Ebola Portal: a tool for collaboratively finding a vaccine.
Bioinformatics plays a key role in infectious disease control – in modelling and early warning, calculating incubation period and monitoring variations in virus sequences to name a few. As the Ebola virus epidemic continues in Africa, a team at UC Santa Cruz Genomics Institute has released an Ebola virus browser to assist efforts to develop a vaccine and antiserum to abate the spread of this growing threat.
Scientists, researchers, drug companies, universities and governments globally can access the browser to compare genetic changes in the virus genome and areas where it remains the same as they seek a solution to halt the epidemic.
